If you inhale one scent too many while shopping, and coffee beans are unavailable, sniff cotton clothes or unscented skin to clear your olfactory palette
Wear stronger scents in cold weather, as the cold reduces a scent’s strength.
Wear stronger scents in higher altitudes, as high altitudes decreases the long-lasting effects of fragrances.
Fragrances will be more intense on people with a high fat, spicy diet.
A dramatic change in diet can alter skin chemistry, causing fragrances to smell differently.
Wearing Fragrances:
Start by layering your scent. Fragrance rises. If you place fragrance only on your neck or behind the ears, the scent will slowly rise and disappear. Begin with a scented shower or bath gel. Next, apply perfumed body lotion to slightly damp skin.
Apply fragrance where skin is warmest (your “pulse” points – your wrist, navel, behind the ears, the décolletage). The heat generated in these areas will keep fragrance on longer.
Scents last longer when applied directly after a warm shower or bath when your pores are open.
Place a little petroleum jelly onto areas where you spray perfume. This gives the scent something to adhere to and lasts longer.
Don’t use perfume on clothing. Fragrance is formulated only to be applied to the skin. It applied to fabric, the fibers could change the character of the fragrance. The scent might also stain the fabric.
Don’t use perfume near pearl or costume jewelry. The alcohol in perfumes can cause pearls to yellow and can strip the coating off jewelry
To instantly tone down perfume, swab offending spots with a cotton ball dampened with rubbing alcohol
Scent your hair by: (Your hair holds scent longer than skin)
Spritzing freshly washed hair with fragrance.
Spraying your hairbrush before brushing.
Putting a few fragrance drops in your hands and run through your hair.
Miscellaneous:
Keep your perfume in a cool, dark place to keep it fresher longer. Once a bottle of perfume is opened it is meant to be used as it will fade with time.
When hand washing fine wearables like hose and lingerie, add a few drops of perfume to the water.
Spray fragrance on light bulbs. The heat from the bulb will fill the room with scent.
Unpleasant cooking odors? Add a few drops of perfume to a cup of boiling water to scent your home.
Empty bottles retain fragrance, so keep them for a while and tuck the open bottles in closets, drawers and stationery boxes.
